1996 wasn’t really that long ago, but it was just before the dot-com boom, the takeover of the internet and certainly before social media and mobile devices became commonplace. So, when TSNN.com started celebrating its 20th anniversary with a series of historical articles about events, I thought it would be fun to look back at how event marketing has changed over the years.

Not surprisingly, event marketing has shifted from reliance on print marketing tactics to digital and social media marketing. But, with that shift in tactics has come the ability to understand the audience better and make communications more personal and relevant to each audience member through data.
